From Page Turners to Deadly TV: Jo Spain and Declan Lawn in conversation with Brian McGilloway

Sunday 22 March @ 8pm £15

Join bestselling author and screenwriter Jo Spain and award-winning screenwriter and producer Declan Lawn for a compelling discussion on storytelling, suspense and life on both sides of the page and the screen. In conversation with Sunday Times and New York Times bestselling author, Brian McGilloway, the three will explore the craft of suspense, the crossover between television drama and fiction, and what it takes to keep audiences hooked when nothing is ever quite as it seems.

Jo Spain is the author of thirteen bestselling novels and one of Ireland’s most successful contemporary crime writers. She is the writer and co-producer of the hit television series Harry Wild, starring Jane Seymour, now in its fifth season, and the sole writer of Mix Tape, which became the BBC’s number one show last summer. Nominated for Irish Author of the Year in 2024, she returns this summer with her gripping new psychological thriller Never To Be Found; a masterclass in tension, misdirection and dark insight. Praised as “the Queen of Irish Thrillers” by the Irish Times and “a sublime storyteller” by Jane Casey, Jo Spain never disappoints.

Declan Lawn is an award-winning screenwriter and the co-creator and producer of the BAFTA-winning BBC drama Blue Lights. His screen credits also include The Salisbury Poisonings and Rogue Agent. Before moving into drama full-time, Declan worked as an investigative journalist with BBC Panorama and BBC Northern Ireland’s current affairs programme Spotlight.

Expect sharp insight, lively conversation, and a fascinating look behind the scenes with these three compelling storytellers.
