This month we welcomed Cassandra and Oliver back to Magheramorne Estate, five years after they became the very first couple to say “I do” here.
Their wedding in 2020 was a beautiful and heartfelt affair, made all the more memorable by the challenging circumstances of the time. Like many couples navigating wedding plans during Covid, Cassandra and Oliver had to rethink their day completely. “Originally we had planned to have over 100 people there,” Cassandra told us during their recent visit, “but we realised we would have to stay within the government guidelines of 30 people. At first we were disappointed, but on the day it was so personal, with time to talk to everyone. It was really intimate and special.”
Five years later, their return to the estate was even more special, with their two children, Penny and Benji, in tow. Now a family of four, their visit was full of laughter, memories and new moments to cherish. Penny, nearly three, gave glowing reviews of the “big swing”, “lovely biscuits” and “pretty butterflies”, with one very clear note to our team: “more jam”. We’re happy to report this feedback was swiftly acted upon.
It was a poignant afternoon for us all. In many ways, Cassandra and Oliver’s wedding marked the beginning of our own journey as a venue. Oliver, a school friend of the Allens who had worked for Jane’s Kitchen as a student, holds a particularly special place in our story. As he and Cassandra reflected on the day that started their married life, we found ourselves reflecting on the transformation of the estate itself; the work the Allen family have put into restoring Magheramorne to its full splendour, and the many special couples who have celebrated here since.
For those considering an intimate wedding, Cassandra and Oliver’s story is a reminder of the magic that happens when scale gives way to significance. At Magheramorne Estate, we can cater for weddings from 40 to 75 guests, with private spaces like our library bar and drawing rooms offering a warm and elegant setting for your day. Long-table dining, family-style feasts, candlelight and conversation; we’ll work with you to bring your vision to life.
Whether you’re planning your first visit or returning like Cassandra and Oliver, Magheramorne is a place where family always takes centre stage.
