One of the best parts of a wedding is having all of your favourite people in one place, but after months of planning, the truth is that a wedding day often goes by far too quickly. Family members who have travelled from near and far gather in one place, old friends reconnect, stories are shared and memories are made. Then, before you know it, it’s time to say goodbye.
That’s why more couples are choosing to extend their celebrations beyond the wedding day itself with a multiple day wedding or weekend celebration.
Whether it’s a relaxed evening with your nearest and dearest before the big day, a leisurely gathering afterwards, or a full wedding weekend, spending a little longer together creates space for the moments that matter most.
At Magheramorne Estate, on-site accommodation, exclusive use of the estate and a variety of indoor and outdoor spaces make it easy to bring everyone together without the need for taxis, multiple venues or complicated logistics. Instead of rushing from one part of the celebration to the next, you can settle in, relax and enjoy quality time with the people you love most.
On the eve of your wedding, imagine checking in to your own private Victorian manor house with family and friends.
Swap nerves for excitement as you settle into your beautifully appointed bedrooms before gathering in the Drawing Room for tea, coffee and cake by the fire. Take a stroll through the woodlands and gardens, enjoy a wedding rehearsal with your bridal party, and savour the anticipation as the next day draws closer.
Preparations complete, gather around the table for a delicious relaxed meal in the Drawing Room. Choose a 2 course seasonal menu or casual hotpot style sharing dishes, and serve with a side of shared memories, lively chat, and a glass raised to the celebrations ahead.
As the evening unfolds, retreat to the Library Bar for a nightcap before heading upstairs for a restful night’s sleep.
Recent groom Richard commented, “One of our best decisions we made was to book the venue for the night before the wedding so that we, along with our closest friends and family, could enjoy an informal evening at the estate, enjoying a relaxed dinner and drinks and taking all the pressure off the wedding day itself. We would highly recommend!”

There is something wonderfully reassuring about waking up on your wedding morning already at the venue. No taxis, no journeys and no worries about traffic.
Guests can take a stroll around the estate before enjoying a leisurely breakfast in the Conservatory between 08:30 and 10:00. Meanwhile upstairs the bride and her party enjoy complimentary access to our beautiful Bridal Dressing Room. Whilst make-up artists and hair stylists work their magic, a delicious private breakfast is served, giving a unique level of privacy and special care.
Ciara, who recently got married at the estate, commented, “With no more logistics to think about, no rushing to get anywhere, and no stress, we were completely present and relaxed going into the day. Dinner and breakfast were delicious, and the stunning dressing room made the getting ready process so special and enjoyable.”
Congratulations! You’ve said “I do”, celebrated a wonderful day with loved ones, and partied well into the night. As the estate awakens, there’s no need to rush home after breakfast. Why not linger longer, enjoying another day together with relaxation as a priority?
Without the schedule of the wedding day itself, there is time to reconnect, share stories from the night before and make a few more memories before everyone heads their separate ways.
When it comes to a “day after” celebration, there is no set formula – proceedings can be as active or as laid-back as you choose.
Explore the estate
With 42 acres of woodlands and gardens to enjoy, many guests begin the day with a gentle walk or an invigorating run around the estate. The woodlands also provide the perfect setting for a scavenger hunt, solving clues and hunting for answers across our trails.
Are you game?
Who says sports day is just for children? Whether it is giant garden games or a full wedding sports day, a little healthy competition often creates some of the funniest moments of the weekend. At Magheramorne our lawn games are one of the little extras we offer our couples as part of their exclusive hire.
Take a dip
For adventurous couples, the surrounding coastline offers opportunities to experience one of Northern Ireland’s favourite pastimes: sea swimming. A refreshing dip at nearby Portmuck, Ballygally or Glenoe Waterfall will certainly clear foggy heads before returning to the estate. We can even provide dry robes, fluffy towels and hot drinks to enhance your dip!
Let us entertain you: Magician Rod Hogg, the inimitable Disco Beard and a young guest enjoying our lawn games.
The great outdoors
For those looking for something more active, we can also help arrange a range of outdoor pursuits and experiences, from falconry to clay pigeon shooting.
That’s entertainment
Afternoon tea with a live harpist? An upbeat guitar duo to get people dancing in the gardens? What about a magician to bring some “wow” factor? We can help you to plan entertainment to surprise and delight your guests across the day.
Or simply slow down
Tea and sweet treats in the Drawing Room. Board games by the fire. Stories from the night before. Perhaps you would prefer to put your feet up and relax? Sometimes the best plan is no plan at all.
“Day after” dining at Magheramorne is intentionally relaxed. Some couples choose a laid-back barbecue on the terrace with grilled meats, our iconic “Build A Burger” station and seasonal salad bar. During the cooler months, our sharing style “hot pots” offer a cosy alternative, with comforting family favourites served sharing-style beside the fire. Whichever you choose, our expert culinary team are on hand to deliver.
A wedding weekend is not about making your wedding bigger. It’s about creating a timeline that helps you to relax and spend time with people who matter most. After all, when everyone you love is together in one place, why not make the most of it?
